ABOUT CHUCK

 


Chuck Howard has trained thousands of athletes as well as adults in the area of strength and conditioning for 37 years. 

Chuck graduated from Indiana University in 1986 with an Exercise Science/Recreation degree and received his Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University in 2014. In 1986, Chuck was hired as a Sports Director for the U.S. Army at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey where he developed strength and conditioning programs for the military. After leaving that position in 1990, Chuck worked as a Corporate Wellness Director for Atlantic Mutual Companies in New Jersey.

In October of 2002, Chuck moved to Arizona to start Champions Training Center where he inspired athletes and adults alike to improve their health and athletic performance through hard work and systematic training in a Christian environment.   


Chuck came to Grand Canyon University in August of 2009 where he was the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball team. 

In January 2010, Chuck became the Head Strength and Conditioning coach for all 22 teams. In October of 2010 Chuck became the Director of Performance Athletes in charge of the overall operation of the Lopes Performance Center along with his duties as the head strength coach. Chuck has also been instrumental in bringing wellness to the students, faculty, and staff at GCU. He has been responsible for the design of four fitness center on and off campus as well as establishing group exercise programs at the Lopes Performance Center geared to help keep our employees healthy and fit.

Through his training systems Chuck and his staff helped GCU become the Division II Learfield Cup Winner in 2012-13 & 2013-14 which is an award presented to the top athletic program in the country. 

 

Since coming to Phoenix he has trained thousands of athletes, including high school All-Americans, College All-Americans, and Professional Athletes. Among his star pupils were Kayla Petersen (NCAA Forward-Stanford WBB/WNBA Conn Suns), Josh McCown (NFL Quarterback-New York Jets), 3 time SuperBowl winner Legarrette Blount (NFL Running Back-New England Patriots, n, Aaron Lynch Chicago Bears, Markus Howard (Marquette and Big East All Time Leading Scorer) Jordan Howard (University of Arkansas and Southland All Time Leading Scorer)  DeeJay Dallas (Seattle Seahawks), Rachaad White (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), NCAA Champion Ochai Agbaji among many others.

Chuck’s most revered Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. He believes that "no matter what your current state of health is, if you truly want to honor God, you will take the necessary steps to take honor your temple by caring for your body.”
